About More Smiles Wisconsin

This is a SLIDING SCALE clinic. The costs for clinic services are based on either your income or they offer type of financial assistance. Contact the clinic directly to discuss prices for individual services which vary. Sliding Scale does not necessarily mean free.

More Smiles Wisconsin is a non-profit organization that provides dental care to the low-income and homeless populations of Dane County. The clinic is set up to do a wide variety of both preventive and restorative care, including root canals, stainless steel crowns, and denture services. The clinic has helped patients receive fillings and extractions, as well as preventive measures such as deep periodontal cleanings and dental sealants. MDI also has relationships with specialists in the area who can take on more complex cases.

Eligibility:  Anyone under 200% FPL without insurance, or enrolled in a Medicaid insurance plan with a dental benefit.

More smiles change everything.

Since we opened our doors in 2009, More Smiles Wisconsin – formerly Madison Dental Initiative (MDI) – has always been more than just a dental clinic.

Our staff and volunteers work to:

  • reduce pain for veterans
  • prevent children from missing school
  • restore confidence to the unemployed
  • remove worry from struggling families
  • provide hope to the homeless

In short, we don’t just provide dental care, we work to change lives.

Our job has only just begun. Wisconsin needs more smiles.

Almost one-third of Wisconsinites do not regularly visit a dentist

Emergency department care for dental complaints cost up to $2.1 billion a year nationally

1 in 5 children go without dental care

We do not accept this as a reality. The mission of More Smiles Wisconsin is to ensure access to quality dental care for the uninsured and those with Medicaid/BadgerCare in South Central Wisconsin. Our intention is to expand services to reach all those in need. And to create more smiles in Wisconsin.
